Where They are now: britnee Wheeler, Rose Maternity Co.
When Britnee Wheeler first launched Rose Maternity Co., it began as a dream sparked by personal experience and a deep desire to support new mothers during one of life’s most transformational seasons. Today, what began as a single doula practice has blossomed into a full-scale maternity support brand making waves far beyond Columbus.
“Absolutely. Rose Maternity Co. began with a desire to support mothers and families through doula services, but it’s evolved into something so much bigger,” Britnee says. “Now, we’re a fully integrated brand that offers educational resources, birth planning, postpartum support, and an online platform that reaches families across the Southeast.” Since graduating from the StartUP Columbus program, Britnee has successfully
scaled her business outside of Columbus, extending her reach throughout Georgia and beyond. What made that leap possible? A powerful mix of community, coaching, and sheer grit.
“Yes, we’ve successfully scaled Rose Maternity Co. beyond Columbus,” she explains. “That growth has come from building strong brand recognition, collaborating with regional health professionals, and learning to delegate so I can lead strategically.”
Of course, entrepreneurship hasn’t been without its challenges. In the early stages, Britnee grappled with narrowing her focus and learning to trust her gut. She credits StartUP Columbus with giving her the tools and the confidence to evolve.
“One of the biggest challenges I faced early on was defining my brand identity,” she shares. “StartUP Columbus helped me get clear on my values and message. I realized I didn’t have to be everything to everyone—just authentic to the people who needed what I offer.”
That clarity, combined with ongoing support from the Columbus entrepreneurial ecosystem, has been a game changer. Britnee describes the local startup community as “incredible, collaborative, and deeply supportive,” providing not only inspiration but ongoing partnerships and referrals. As for what’s next? Britnee is keeping the momentum going with new hires, product development, and national speaking engagements.
“There is a lot on the horizon for Rose Maternity Co.,” she says. “We’re expanding our digital resource library, launching new care packages for moms, and planning to host our first virtual summit. It’s all about creating ‘nurture-first’ experiences for families.”
Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? Don’t wait for perfect.
“Start before you feel ready,” she encourages. “And lean into the community—because when you’re surrounded by people who believe in your vision, you’ll find the courage to keep going.”
